Flexibility and therapy

Hi, I am Alexander,

As a massage therapist and fitness instructor, I offer a unique fusion of therapies in one session, which includes a warmup followed by assisted stretching and a Raynor massage.

*Warm-up

We start with a little light exercise to increase blood flow, lubricate joints and release endorphins, which allows for deeper stretches and greater release of tension during massage.

*Assisted stretching

Stretching, especially proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF stretching), has been shown to have a positive impact on flexibility by increasing muscle and joint elasticity, thereby increasing the range of motion.

*Raynor massage

This is a holistic bodywork system that consists of , acupressure, essential oils and breathwork to find and release tension throughout the body and promote overall well-being.

Its origins are from Ayurvedic massage, Chinese medicine, , yoga breathwork, aromatherapy and .

There is an emphasis on the Eastern medical theory, in that the physical body is composed of a life force (called prana, meaning breath in Ayurvedic medicine, or chi, meaning air in Chinese medicine), as well as emotions and other subtle energies that flow along channels called meridians; and that they are related and affect each other. Physical or emotional stressors can lead to a blockage or disruption in the flow of the life force, causing tension in the body as muscles tighten and bones shift out of alignment, resulting in inflammation, discomfort, poor flexibility and stifled movement. These stressors and blockages are different for everyone, so each massage is adapted to the individual. Along with targeting areas of discomfort, the route causes are also located and treated by working along the meridians (muscle tension in one area will affect another further on).

=> I believe Eastern Medicine complements Western Medicine.

=> If you believe in it – it works!

=> If you don’t believe in it – it still works!

=> And if you don’t have tension – lucky you, but you can still have a nice relaxing spa-style with me 🙂

+ I also offer personal training and assisted stretching, which, when combined with massage, can significantly enhance your progress and recovery time. With this version, the warmup is followed by a full workout; see my website or contact me for more details.

[] You can come to the practice rooms in Castle St, Reading, or I can make house visits in the surrounding areas.
